Texas Rogue - Ward is coached by Scott Ward, Doug Bishop, JD Trotter and Bruce Griffith.  Our main philosophy is that base hits and routine outs win ball games.  We are mostly a mid-level team that allow players to bridge the gap between recreation and select softball.  Our team is made up of mostly 96's.  

What we look for:  We are looking for girls and parents that want to continue playing softball, but might not want the "softball is the only thing in the world" attitude that comes with the top level team.  That's not to say that we don't care about winning, but our team won't force you to get a second mortgage to travel in the summer and pay extensive fees.  We purposely keep a small roster to ensure parents receive a quality ROI.  After all, we need the parents to be involved in the process.

We try to play 2 tournament a month when available and typically stay in the DFW area.  However, we might venture outside our regular are for a long weekend if the team wants to travel.  We typically hold one practice a week on Saturday's from 9-12 at The Colony High School.  This allows for family time, but also pushes the practice responsibility on the players to get the extra time they need on their own schedule. 

Stats are kept and uploaded frequently for each player on the site after a tournament as well as published on VTD under the college coaches section.  We promote healthy internal competition and want the players to know how they have done.

We typically host open practices and encourage all players to attend, while a girl might not be able earn a roster spot initially, we like them to stay involved in practices so they can get better.  This allows us to promote internally and keep girls interested in softball.  At this time, practices are free, we just ask they give the coaches their undivided attention and participate fully.
